Sylvia Davis is a Phenomenal Black American Woman. She is employed by School District #144. Sylvia is the Mentor Coordinator for her district. It is her responsiblity to ensure that all novice teachers receive the professional and emotional support they need throughout the school year. Sylvia's favorite poem is" Don't Quit" by Mychal Wynn. She shares this poem with all novice teachers, emphasizing the last stanza:

Succeed in believing that you will not fail
Use diSligence and determination to set your sail
When the weather is stormy and the waters are rough
In the moment of peril the strong get tough
Whenever life presses you down a bit
Stand up and shout, "I will not quit!"
