Welcome to Mr. Leonard's AAM project. This site will serve as an educational tool for the exploration of the American suburban experience. Using the vast resources of the Library of Congress and the American Memory collection, students and teachers will be able to access primary sources that will help in any comprehensive exploration of the American suburb.
Dating back to the Victorian era, the American suburb has been influential in changing the way we live. This web-based lesson will help students uncover exactly what makes the suburbs different from the urban environment.
Some key questions students will consider are:
What is a suburb?
Why do people live in the suburbs?
What makes suburbs different than cities?
