Adventure of the American Mind

Narrative writing is writing that tells a story. Narrative stories that engage the reader have certain elements – engaging beginning, events that are significant to the author, dialogue, emotions, and closing that brings together all the essential narrative elements.

One way to become a better narrative writer is to listen to and read other narrative stories.

"To write well about your life you only have to be true to yourself." p. 8

"---writing about one's life is a powerful human need." p. 6

Both quotes are attributed to William K. Zinsser, Writing About Your Life (2004).
