Harvey, A New City Rising

What is life like in 2006?

You will be leaving a record for future generations about what Harvey is like in the year 2006. You will be working with a group to do two things.
1.You will choose an area of Harvey to learn more about by reading all available information on the web or in print materials. This table contains some of the various areas you can choose from. Informational web sites that have already been located will be linked with A B C etc. in the table cell. You might want to read what is already out there to give you ideas about what else people might want to know.

2. You will gather primary source materials about that area of Harvey, digitize it, and present the information to the rest of the class with a PowerPoint presentation or a web page.
a. You may actually contact the different businesses or individuals to get information via phone, email, or letter. Ask for any publications, historical information, or other informtion that you can use to create a digital record.

b. If you choose Harvey Memories, you will find an individual who has lived in Harvey for a long time to interview about their Harvey experiences. You would need to video and/or audio tape record the interview and type a transcript of the interview. One of the links in the cell above contain many transcripts that were done by others for Springfield. Reading these will help you understand how powerful this nformation is to help us understand what life was like.

c. You may want to use a digital camera to take photographs of the buildings or people you are investigating. Then you could create a digital scrapbook using PowerPoint.
